Madidi Natinoal park has 867 species of birds , although it is estimated that it contains around 1,150 species , representing 83% of the birdlife in the country.
The most outstanding species are the red and green macaw(Ara chloroptera), tyranido (Anairetes alpinus), crested eagle(Oroatus isidori), cock –of-the rock (Rupicola peruviana), harpy eagle (Harpia harpyia) and several species of birds in danger of extinctionsuch as the grallaria erythrotis , endemic to the region . In the pampas , the flooded savannah vegetation is home to some flagship species such as the blue-thoated macaw (Ara glaucogularis), endemic to Bolivia.
Of the 876 species recorder so far the following should be mentioned :Hoatzin (Opisthocomushoatzin), Sabanna hawk , (Betuogallus urubitinga), Amazon kingfisher (Chloroceryle amazona), in addtition to a wide variety of herons , storks , falcons, macaws , and ducks.
Days 1 and 2:
Madidinational park . Visit to the caquiahuara cliffs to observe macaws (Ara ararauna, Ara cloroptheraand) and parrots. Accommodation in the Tacuaral Lodge. Observation of jungle birds from pathsand on the rivers.
Days 3 , 4 and 5:
Pampas . accommodation in the Caracoles Lodge. Observation of marsh and river birds.
